ABOUT ME
Originally from China, Tom began his musical journey at the age of four, studying classical piano at the Tianjin Music Academy. After relocating to Canada in 2010, he continued his training under several prominent figures in Vancouver’s music scene, most notably under the mentorship of Dr. Henri-Paul Sicsic. Their five-year collaboration helped Tom shape his artistic vision and musical understanding.
Tom’s relationship with the stage began in 2009, and he has since accumulated a wealth of performance experience in both competitive and community settings. At just eight years old, he placed second in an international music competition in Beijing. In Canada, he has earned top placements in the Kiwanis Music Festival, the Vancouver International Music Competition (VIMC), and the Steinway Piano Competition. Notably, after advancing through the Crescendo International Music Competition’s preliminary rounds, he performed at Carnegie Hall in New York alongside other young musicians from across North America.
In addition to competitions, Tom has remained active in British Columbia’s classical music scene, frequently performing at local events, charity concerts, and musician gatherings. Now based in Montreal for his university studies, he has temporarily stepped back from public performances to focus on academic growth, with plans to return to the stage and continue sharing his passion for music in the near future.
